Bible Stories & a New Life

Reuben, portrait

For ten months Mrs. Esperanza Bravo has come to the mission’s food pantry for help, and each time she has brought three small children she babysits at home. Several months ago, volunteers Tim and Judy Spradley gave children’s Bibles to the mission guests. Esperanza requested one, telling Tim and Judy that she wanted to teach the Bible to the children she babysits.

Last Wednesday Esperanza reported to us that the children were learning the Bible stories from the picture Bible and that she was very grateful. Then she said she was ready to accept Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior. Through tears of happiness, we all rejoiced with Esperanza as she took her first step of faith. She expressed thankfulness to the rescue mission for providing not only food for the body, but also food for the soul.

We love engaged and prayerful volunteers who share God’s love to our guests. In this case, Tim and Judy distribute groceries and, more than that, God’s Word. Now we all see and celebrate Esperanza’s new life.
